Meet the team: The three-question challenge

05.03.2020

With a team of over 1,300 people up and down the country, it’s no secret that we’re growing as a company. At SLS, it’s important to build a brilliant culture and surround ourselves with people who share our passion for what we do.

From apprentices to management, we’re always looking for new people to join our talented team at School Lettings Solutions. And what better way to attract great new faces than to show off some of the team players we already have?

We asked three people to sum up their roles at SLS in three questions. Keep reading to find out what they have to say…

Name: James Caunce

Role: Commercial Data Analyst

Location: Head Office (Manchester)

Q: What does your day-to-day look like at SLS?

A: I present data from numerous systems in an interactive, digestible format which allows people to make informed decisions and monitor performance based on facts and figures.

Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

A: Over the past 4 years I have organised numerous charity music events involving local

musicians, bands and businesses. Always ends up being a good night and raises a lot of money at the same time!

Q: What is your proudest moment/your greatest achievement in your career and why?

A: It has to be winning team player of the year at the SLS awards as voted for by my colleagues. And, of course, completing my Level 3 NVQ/apprenticeship in Leadership and Management alongside my day-to-day duties.

Name: Charlie Waterworth

Role: Impact Manager

Location: Yorkshire

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job and why?

A: What I love most about my job is the sense of family. The work is hard and demanding at times, however, SLS truly values people on a personal level because their pride, passion and dedication are the engine room behind our success.

Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

A: I swam the English Channel in 11 hours 23 minutes.

Q: What is your proudest moment/your greatest achievement in your career and why?

A: My proudest moment at SLS has been witnessing the turnaround in morale, results and performance within the Yorkshire region. It’s all down to the managers and assistants. The future is bright for this region and I’m excited to see their potential.

Name: Debbie Gallagher

Role: Head of Partnerships

Location: Remote, based in Derby

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job and why?

A: I love working for a unique business who are super passionate about delivering something back to the community whether it is a local badminton group, theatre groups or a football league. To offer a facility that is not in the private sector and that anyone can book whether it be big or small is brilliant for local businesses. It adds social cohesion with more integrated communities engaging in social activities bringing everyone together.

Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

A: Not sure this is fun but interesting – My Gran’s distant cousin was married to Trevor

Macdonald. Also, my party trick is the “crab”.

Q: What is your proudest moment/your greatest achievement in your career and why?

A: I am proud of our achievements in growing our partners as well as receiving a 10 on our NPS scores!
